Latryse McDowell grew up in a middle class home in the Cedarbrook section of Philadelphia. She attended Bishop McDevitt High School and graduated from Audenreid High School. Currently, she is working towards a degree in Business Administration at DeVry University. She previously worked as a child care provider. Latryse is married to Aaron McDowell, a graphic artist and father to their five children. They have two children that suffer from Autism which ultimately lead her to the decision to leave the classroom and stay at home and work with her own two children, and go back to college.
“I have two children with Autism, I have given my life to them, and I understand the importance of early detection, in all areas of mental health. And I understand the strain it puts on a family. I believe it’s time to fix something that has been broken for so long. It’s time to change how we deal with mental health as a commonwealth.”
McDowell is a Committee Person in the 50th Ward, where she also serves as the Vice Chair. She has a clear understanding of the needs of the people in the PA 200th District.
“I offer something my opponent cannot: A seat at the table! As Vice Chair of the 50th Ward and my involvement with the Philadelphia Republican City Committee, I have the ability to work within the Republican-controlled State House. This will allow me to get the resources needed to improve the quality of life in the district for all citizens.”
